A Message from Rick Perciante

Since 2011, Maria Bell has been capturing the dogs and cats of Oakville and their unique personalities through her beautiful series of books. This fall, she is launching her 5th book in the Dogs of Oakville series entitled: Champions.

And while these dogs are not show champions, more importantly, through Maria’s book and her video links, you will learn how they have earned the right to be called champions of our hearts.

What you may not know, is that 100 per cent of the profits from the sales of Maria’s books go directly to the Oakville and Milton Humane Society. Over the years, this has had an enormous impact on our mission to protect and make life better for animals by generating more than $100,000 for our shelter!

On behalf of the Oakville and Milton Humane Society, I want to thank Maria and photographers Patricia Toth and Russell Gonsalves for championing this project that has helped so many vulnerable animals in our community. And of course, a big paws up to the book’s dog owners for contributing their time and energy, so the stories of their champions could be told.

Our shelter relies completely on donations from the public and corporate sponsors to provide animal care and support within the shelter. It is only through the generous support and work of animal lovers like Maria, that the Oakville and Milton Humane Society has been able to successfully find forever homes for tens of thousands of animals since 1936.

My sincere thanks again to everyone who has supported this project and purchased one, or more of Maria’s books. In doing so you are helping create a better and more humane community.

Sincerely,

Rick Perciante
